Ingredients:
- Gin: Choose a London Dry gin for that classic botanical punch, 60ml (2 oz)
- Dry Vermouth: Keep it fresh; vermouth oxidizes once opened, 10ml (1/3 oz)
- Garnish: 1 to 3 cocktail onions (silverskin onions),
- Ice: Fresh, clear ice for stirring,
The Method:
- Chill Everything, Add Gin and Vermouth to a cocktail shaker
- Combine, Add ice
- Stir (Don't Shake), Shake well
- Strain, Pour, using a strainer, into your preferred cocktail glass.
- The Signature Touch, Garnish, with a cocktail stick if available, 1-3 onions is the norm but some put more in subject to their taste.
Pro Tip:
For an extra savory kick, add a tiny splash (a "barspoon") of the onion brine from the jar directly into the mixing glass. This is often called a "Dirty Gibson."
Bartenders Note:
Bartender's Note: Never shake a Gibson. Shaking introduces air bubbles and tiny ice shards, which clouds the drink and ruins its silky texture. Always stir.
